Cheeky Pig

Children’s stories

These are the stories of Cheeky Pig, his family, friends and a few other characters who appear from time-to-time. Cheeky Pig lives with his mum and dad. And, he is cheeky just like his name suggests. Being a playful animal, it often gets him into tight spots or what some people might call “pickles”.

One of his trait’s, which a number of family members share with him, is not thinking clearly before acting or saying something out loud! He eats healthily, lots of green vegetables ESPECIALLY cabbages, keeps fit, likes to play out with his friends, loves his sports, especially swimming and golf! He loves being with nature and the great outdoors.

His mum (her friends call her “Queenie”) started him swimming at an early age because she believes it is very important for children to be able to look after themselves in water as early as possible. She is a very good swimmer herself as is his dad (“Pops” as he likes to call him). Pops got him in to playing golf (he’d like to get him in to gardening too!) and he feels the sport will teach Cheeky Pig some respect and discipline, maybe even remove some of his cheekiness! Plus, it’s a game then can all play together as a family.

Mom is a pretty good golfer too, Pops on the other hand is not a great golfer, he plays off a handicap of 20 and plays for fun rather than serious competition. Cheeky Pig is a junior at the same golf club as his parents and has a handicap of 18. There was a time when Pops always used to beat him but that was a long time ago! Cheeky Pig is always trying to get his friends to join the club so they can all go out and play together. However not all are as enthusiastic as he is!

Most of all, Cheeky Pig loves holidays. Mum and Pops treasure their leisure time together as a family. For their annual trip they like to visit anywhere where with sand, sea and sunsets…and it’s also where Cheeky Pig had one of his biggest adventure’s! (See Summer stories)

Home is a small village called Wibbly, a small place with around 50 houses, a very old church, a village green which hosts all sorts of events and a pub called the ‘Pig and Whistle’ which has hosted many a crown green bowling match.

There are two farms on the outskirts, Apple Brook and Hill Top, close by, to the South, is the canal and its locks. Running from the canal is a stream which forms the ford on Pump House Lane. Surrounded by countryside, Wibbly village is a peaceful and idyllic place to live with the local town of Ditchie only a 30 minute walk away.
